The school was founded on 9th April 1979 on 20 acres of land bought from the Punjab Government. It is run as a coeducation day-cum-boarding school.

School Campus

The school campus is spread over 20 acres in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS Nagar) which was formerly called Mohali. The surroundings are picturesque as the premises are strategically placed between the city centre and a green belt. The boarding house for boys is well equipped and fully functional.

Teaching Staff

There are 76 qualified teachers on the staff many of whom have long experience of work in public schools. The staff pupil ratio is 1:18.


The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. Students are prepared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination at the end of Class X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination at the end of Class XII.

Admission to all classes is determined on the basis of a written test and interview held every year in March. The academic year is from April to March with summer breaks from mid-May to end-July and winter break from mid-December to the beginning of January.

School Academics


The games played in school are cricket, football, volleyball, hockey, basketball, tennis, squash, hand ball, judo, karate, boxing, gymnastics, rifle shooting, taekwondo, fencing, horse riding and athletics. Cross country running is compulsory for all the students.

Extra Curricular Activities

The activities popular among students are art and craft, Indian and western music, classical dancing, photography, dramatics, elocution, calligraphy and electronics. Educational treks and tours are part of the curriculum. These are compulsory for students of Classes VII and IX and optional for others. The school has a contingent of the Army Wing of the National Cadet Corps for boys.
