India Schools : Rajkumar College, Raipur
The Rajkumar College was originally founded at Jabalpur in 1882 and later on shifted to Raipur in 1894 as a Chief’s College with the intention of educating the sons of Rulers and Zamindars and their relatives. In 1939 admission was thrown open to boys without distinction of class, caste or creed.
The main building houses the class rooms of the senior schools and two boarding houses. Behind the main building and attached to it are the Stow Hall and Sarangarh Dining Hall.
The Stow-Hall accommodates the Senior School and Guests for college functions and is used daily for morning assembly. Jashpur Centenary Hall, the school’s auditorium, with a seating capacity of over 2000 is used on special occasions.
Tagore House, a separate house, opened by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1963, accommodates the Junior School. It contains class rooms for the juniors. The M.P.
House inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Mr. P. C. Sethi, accommodates the Middle School. The main building has classes from VII to XII.
Pupils are entered for the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations and are prepared for entry to the universities and professional colleges and institutions of higher learning.
The Junior School is from nursery to II. The Middle School is from III to VI. The Senior School, from classes VII-XII (ISC), is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
The school is primarily a boarding school. However, boys and girls are admitted as day scholars also. There are four separate boarding houses for boys and girls. The age is between 5 1/2 to 17 1/2 years. For classes other than nursery, KG-I, KG-II and Class I, admission depends on the vacancies that arise.

The senior boarding houses have pool tables besides table tennis, cable network facilities etc. Triangular Tournament (hockey and basketball) for girls with Daly College, Indore and Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer is hosted in rotation annually. The school cricket, football and hockey teams regularly participate in the IPSC tournaments.
Extra Curricular Activities
The School has an Economics Society, an Art Society and Literary Societies. A nature club, a rifle club, a photography club and Computer Centre. Music enriches the life of the School. Treks and Tours are organized for the students of Class V and above. Groups are sent for trekking in the Himalayas and make tours all over India.
