Sawan Public School was set up in 1974 by the S. J. Jindal Trust. As the aims and objectives of the school as laid down by the S.J.Jindal Trust, are exactly the same to those of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institutions in India and abroad, drawing inspiration from the traditional ‘Gurukula’ system, Sawan Public School was, in April 1993, gifted totally to the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The school has henceforth been known as “Bhavan’s Sawan Public School”.
Located about 12 kms. from Qutab Minar on the Bhatti Mines Road near Bhatti village, the school campus spreads over 30 acres of picturesque countryside.
The school building contains airy and well lit classrooms, modern laboratories, staff room, examination cell and the offices of the Directors, Principal, Vice Principal and Bursar.
The school Hostel is located in the South West corner of the campus. It is a double storied building which can accommodate 400 students in four houses. The residential Post Office is in the school premises, also a laundry, tuck shop, barber and cobbler.
The school has a dedicated and highly qualified staff who employ excellent teaching methods and facilities to ensure that education and learning be of the highest order.
Sawan Public School is a fully residential school for boys affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school offers the All India Secondary School Examination and Senior School Certificate Examination at Standard X and XII.

Admission is on the basis of a written test, personal interview and the number of vacancies available. The child is tested in English, Hindi, Maths and any other subjects deemed necessary by the school. To qualify for the admission test, every candidate must be registered with the school. A child seeking admission to Class IV must be between 8 and 9 years of age. If not admitted the seat will be treated as vacant. Parents interested in admitting their child should make a written request to the school and register their child. In order to register the child, they should send a draft of Rs. 75/-. Fees are subject to revision at short notice.
The school offers merit-cum-means scholarships to students. A concession of Rs 500/- per annum in tuition fee is granted to the sons of widows, invalids, serving Defence personnel and those who are dedicated in the service of the nation or mankind. Brothers are eligible to a concession of Rs 200/- in tuition fee, except for the eldest who pays the full fee.
Sports are compulsory for all students. The vast playgrounds of the school offer facilities for organized sports like basketball, football, tennis, volleyball, cricket, baseball, badminton and hockey. Special coaches also train the boys in swimming, boxing and karate. Gymnastics is also taught in the gymnasium.
Extra Curricular Activities
Debates, declamations, quizzes, and drama competitions are organized on a regular basis. The school conducts the All India Sawan Inter School Declamation Contest and the Delhi Inter School Art Competition. The hobby activities that are popular among the students are art, music, photography, wood craft, clay modelling, journalism and electronics.
