Sainik School, Kunjpura is one of the first five schools established in 1961 by the Sainik Schools Society (Ministry of Defence) New Delhi.
The teaching staff consist of highly qualified persons who have an aptitude for public schools.
At present the school has 625 cadets studying in Classes VI to XII and has maintained an excellent record of performance in the field of sports at the Inter Public School, State and National levels. More than 500 cadets have joined the NDA, and a similar number have joined Armed Forces as direct entry officer.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The school prepares boys for All India Secondary School and All India Senior School Certificate Examinations. Sainik School, Kunjpura is also a member of the Indian Public Schools Conference.
Rs. 20000/- + 5500/- Diet money per annum in advance or four equal installments in a year, payable by the 7th. of every quarter of a year. The fees may be revised upwards at any time without notice. An initial clothing charge of Rs. 1,500/- is collected from each student at the time of admission. After the first year the annual clothing charges are Rs. 750/-. Refundable Caution money of Rs. 3,000/- (Rs. 1500/- SC/ST) is collected from each boy. This money is refunded after deduction of any outstanding dues.
Admission is granted to boys who qualify in an All India Entrance Examination held at various centres all over India some time in the month of February. 67% of the vacancies are reserved for the boys belonging to the State of Haryana. Union territories are covered by the neighboring schools for the purpose of admission and boys belonging to these territories will be treated as boys belonging to the state in which the school is located. 25% vacancies are reserved for sons of the Defence Services personnel and ex-servicemen.
A number of scholarships are awarded by the State Government tenable in the school. Scholarships are granted to boys belonging to Haryana & Delhi on merit-cum-means basis & parent income. Ministry of Defence Govt. of India also grants scholarships to the children of defence personnel up to the rank of JCO (Army) or equivalent in the other two services.
The boys of Sainik School, Kunjpura have brought laurels to the institution in athletics and have excelled in swimming, football, and hockey.
Results of the All India Secondary School examination and All India Senior School Certificate Examination have always been good. The standard of examination for admission to the school would be equivalent to that of Standard V of Central Board of Secondary Education. Examination is held at important centres in the country.
Extra Curricular Activities
Co-curricular activities are given equal emphasis along with the academics in the school so as to develop an all round balanced personality of a leader in the making. N.C.C. training is compulsory for the boys. All the boys are expected to take part in the activities of photography, electronics, music & dance, audio visual, computer, aero & ship modelling, painting, craft, alchemy, gymnastics, karate and adventure, environment, geography, Hindi & English Literary Club and Mathematics club.
