India Schools : Delhi Public School, Damanjodi
The school was set up in 1983. It is a day-cum-residential school. It is a joint venture of Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi and National Aluminum Co. Ltd.
The school building is an epitome of architectural dexterity and speaks volumes of the aesthetic appeal. The entire campus sprawls over 30 acres of land. The school has a main building, three well-equipped labs, a large multipurpose hall and a computer centre with latest hardware and software and internet facilities. There are also rooms for various activities, a well maintained games field and above all, a printing press.
It is the policy of school to select teachers from all over the country. All members of the teaching faculty are well qualified as per CBSE norms. The school has a dedicated team of 56 teaching staff, 1 librarian and 3 hostel staff who work hard day in and day out, in the true spirit of the school motto “SERVICE BEFORE SELF”. All the staff members reside in quarters provided by NALCO. The student teacher ratio is 25:1.
The pupils of the school come from all over the country and belong to different classes and communities. The strength of the school, from Nursery through XII, as on 31st March 2000 is 1260 out of which 80 of them are Boarders.
The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and prepares children for All India Secondary School Examination (Class X) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII).
The school aims at making quality education possible at a reasonable cost.
Admission to the school is based on an entrance examination, which is normally held in April/May. However, some emergency vacancies are filled up in the month of July as well. The entrance examination is conducted in English, Hindi and Mathematics upto class VIII and in English, Hindi, Mathematics and Science for students seeking admission to Class IX. Admission to Class XI is based on the marks obtained in the Class X Board Examination.
The school holds two quarterly examinations, one mid-term examination and the annual examination in March, besides sending the students for the Board Examination. The performance of the students at AISSE and AISSCE has been excellent.
Games and sports are compulsory for all students for the physical and mental well being. The vast playgrounds of the school provide facilities for organized games like football, cricket, basketball, badminton, table tennis and track and field events. The school is also hosting regular CBSE cluster meets in athletics and games.
Extra Curricular Activities
Hobby activities popular among the students are vocal and instrumental music, painting, dance, photography, electronics, printing press and handicrafts. In addition to these, inter-house contests are also organized from time to time in dramatics and literary fields. Every student is expected to participate in one of these activities according to his/her aptitude and choice.
