Asian Academy of Film and Television offers a Diploma in Camera and Lighting Techniques. The role of a cameraperson is very essential to shot a scene. A cameraperson needs to create images to present on the silver screen. A cameraperson should understand and make use of psychology of human perception to execute his/her work perfectly.

A cameraperson needs to study how human mind responds to the motion images presented before his/her mind. There should be a right way to arrest moving images for presentation on the film and television screen. A good cameraperson studies what viewers accept and based on it, he/she shoots a scene.

A cameraperson is responsible for using methods of recording images. There are many skills to operate a film/television camera. AAFT students are taught these skills to deal with advanced camera. Students are given practical exercises to enhance their basic skills.

Lighting is very important in the film and television production. The course curriculum involves a systematic study of tools and techniques of lighting. Lighting is not only used to illuminate a particular scene but also used for focusing important elements in a film and television images.

The course duration is one year, which incorporates theory and practical exercises. Students are provided with required tools to shot a scene. They are taught tactics of camera operating. Students learn to light the subject and focus on the elements in the motion images.
