Diploma in Visual Communication

Asian Academy of Film and Television offers a Diploma in Visual Communication. The course duration is one year that includes four semesters. AAFT organizes various programmes where students are taught basics skills including

  • Direction/Production & TV Journalism
  • Acting & presentation
  • Sound recording and video editing

In the first semester, students are given practical exercises in acting and presentation. With the help of these exercises, students learn techniques of presentation. The course helps students to learn how actors train him/her emotionally and physically to get inside a character. Students learn acting techniques such as improvisation, emotional recall, and sensory work. They understand how an actor can live a character.

The course curriculum incorporates theoretical as well as practical exercises. The course provides students with thorough knowledge of acting and presentation. Students learn how to create voice for specific scenes. The course also contains personality development programme.

In the second semester, students study the process of capturing a vision that includes the time and movement, composition of light and shadow. Students are given practical exercises in:

  • Focal length & their properties
  • Lenses
  • Fundamentals of lighting
  • Exposure and light - filters
  • Lighting aesthetics
  • Contrast & lighting ratios

Students learn theory and apply it to the practical projects. Students are provided with all required equipments to help them execute their task. In the third semester, students learn shaping, cutting, sound into finishing product and furnishing raw materials of motion pictures. The post-production work helps students to understand the process of filmmaking. Students are taught theory and practical exercises in recording and controlling sound tracks that brings out the sense of a film.

In the fourth semester, students get to learn how to build up visual concepts and to convert design into moving images. Students are given practical exercises in graphics, costumes, designing sets, etc. Students learn basics of production management and transfer abstract ideas into concrete moving images.

Students are given practical exercises to enhance their fundamental skills required for filmmaking. The film school puts emphasis on students all round development. Students are provided with all required equipment to facilitate them complete their projects. The film school gives thorough knowledge of visual communication. Students are taught how to create effective communication by presenting motion pictures. They are taught viewers psychology of responding to images.
