Introduction to Course
The Master in Convergent Journalism programme is completed in about 66 weeks or 2376 hours, which are efficiently available for teaching in two successive academic years. The programme is modified in such a manner that every student shall spend virtually 40% of his/her time in learning theory. However, the institute lays emphasis on hands-on training and practical exercises. Students are given extensive hands-on training in reporting, editing, writing, the news for:
- Newspapers
- Television
- Radio
- Web Portals
The institute facilitates students to execute their task by way of providing them news agencies like PTI & UNI along with a web news portal that is made available to them with an audio-video stream. Here, students run the news portal under the direction of a teacher. With the help of new portal, students learn the art of reporting, editing and writing for electronic and print media in real scenario. Students are attached with Radio Jamia FM as well as some NGO's for development issues and training in programme presentation.
AJK MCRC organizes workshops and seminars during the course where prominent working professionals are invited to interact with students. The workshops and seminars include a number of topics and subjects based on convergent journalism. The details about the programme are given below.
