BITSAT – Birla Institute of Technology and Science
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, is a deemed university. The university has been founded by late freedom fighter and a prominent industrialist Mr. G. D. Birla. Mr. Birla had a vision to have a good university for engineering and technology. With the intention to provide quality education in the field of engineering and technology he had started a small school in early 1900s, which is now culminated into one of the most reputed universities in India. Birla Institute of Technology and Science is an all India institute for higher education.
The university conducts entrance exam for the admission into various programmes. Almost every university has paper-based entrance test, however, BITS has online entrance exam. The entrance exam has been conducted every year for the admission to all the integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Goa, Hyderabad and Pilani campus. The selection for admission will be made on the basis of performance in Computer-based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani.
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science is a prestigious institution in the field of engineering and technology. Being a well-known institute, it offers Degree programme in Engineering, Science, Technology, Humanities and Management at Hyderabad, Pilani and Goa campus. The institution also gives direct admission to the toppers without any entrance exam.
Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT
The candidates who are looking forward to getting admission into any of the Integrated First Degree porgrammes must have passed 10+2 from the recognized Central/State board or its equivalent with Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The medium of instruction at BITS is English; therefore, candidates must be good at English and in addition to they should have obtained at least of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry subjects in 10+2 exam with minimum 60% marks in each of the Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry subjects.
Candidates who are appearing for 10+2 exam in the current year are also eligible to appear for BITSAT test. Candidates who have completed their 10+2 exam a year ago can also apply for BITSAT. However, to explain the reason for the gap they are required to produce gap certificate at the time of submission. On the other hand, candidates who have passed 10+2 two years ago to the current BITSAT exam are not eligible to appear for the test. Furthermore, it is to be noted that the students who have been studying in BITS at any of its campuses cannot appear for BITSAT test.
The admission will entirely be made on the candidate’s performance in the entrance test. The merit position of the students will be completely based on their performance score in the test. Nevertheless, candidates’ eligibility for admission is matter to satisfying the requirement of minimum marks in 10+2 exam that is mentioned as above.
The candidates who have topped in their board exam shall get direct admission to the programme of their first choice. The university gives this opportunity to the toppers in order to provide good education. BITS has been ongoing to put it into practice, hence, there is no entrance test for admission to programmes for top ranked candidate; and such candidates from all over India can get direct admission to the programme of his/her choices.
