Sound Recording and Audio Engineering
Center for Research in Art of Film and Television (CRAFT) offers a course in Sound Recording and Audio Engineering. The course helps students to build a solid foundation of sound recording.
The responsibility of a Sound Recordist is to put together all sound/audio effects with moving images. The work of sound engineer includes mixing music, recording, dialogues, dubbing and other sound effects. A Sound Recordist has to put together all aspects of sound track and edit them to produce a final shape.
CRAFT students learn creative and technical aspects of sound recording. Students are taught how to work in a studio environment and how to acquire complex recording projects. They are also taught various tactics of creating innovative sound projects. The course curriculum consists of learning how to set up:
- Microphones
- Amplifiers
- Cables
- Speakers
- A recording studio with mixing consoles
The course lays emphasis on developing the ability of students to become accustomed to advanced technologies, system, conditions, etc. The music recording industry is the backbone of feature film industry. The role of Sound Recordist is inseparable from the process of sound recording. A Sound Recordist has to be creative while executing work. The creative bent of mind helps him/her to produce something innovative.

A group of working professionals from the film industry design the Sound Recording and Audio Engineering programme. The group is professionals who completed their education from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). They also have been associated with the music recording and sound designing field.
