Unit-I: Analog and Digital Electronics:
Semiconductor Physics: Rectifier, filter circuits, ripple factor, zener diode, energy band theory of solids, P-N Junction, types of semiconductor.
Transistor and Circuit analysis: Transistor-biasing, stabilization factor, h-parameter, stabilization, RC-coupled amplifier, push-pull amplifier, power amplifier, Class-A, Class-B, Class-C, Class-AB, types of transistor, relationship between a,ß,?, Q-point, transistor configuration (CB,CE,CC) and characteristics.
Different between BJT and FET, parameters of MOSFET, JFET, characteristics of JFET.
Feedback Amplifier and Oscillator: Emitter follower, types of oscillator, oscillator, barkhausen criteria, classification of feedback amplifier, advantages of negative feedback amplifier.
Wave Shaping Circuit: Differentiator and integrator using RC, cliper, Schmitt trigger, clamper.
Op-amp: Application of OPAMP (integrator and differentiator, adder, subtracter, summing), characteristics of OPAMP, OPAMP parameters like CMRR, SVRR, Slewrate etcetera.
Number System: Conversion of number system, octal, binary, binary arithmetic, Is complement, 2s complement, Decimal and Hexa decimal number system.
Binary Codes: Gray code, ASCII code EBCDIC code, weighted code and non-weighted code, BCD code.
Logic gates: AND, OR NOR, NOT, X-OR, NAND, X-NOR.
Boolean algebra and Combinational Circuit: Theorem, minterm, postulates, POS, SOP, maxterm, K-map, dont care condition, concept of Boolean algebra.
Sequential Circuit: Counter, A/D-D/A converter, Flip-Flop, shift register.
Unit-II: Communication and Microwave:
Analog Communication: Power relation of Am wave, demodulation, concept of multiplexing, vestigial sideband signal, concept of PLL, frequency and phase modulation, amplitude, frequency spectrum, SSB Vs DSB.
Digital Communication: Digital modulation technique, noise channel capacity formula, delta modulation, FSK, ASK, QASK, PSK, QPSK, DPCM, PCM.
Wave Propagation and Radio Communication: Parameters of antenna like antenna gain, efficiency, bandwidth, directivity, beamwidth, types of antenna like lens, parabolic reflector, Horn Helix, TRF receiver, Yagi-uda antenna, receiver characteristics, superheterodyne receiver, pattern of antenna, concept of electromagnetic waves, wave radiation, mechanism of radiation.
Satellite and Optical Fiber Communication: Frequency allocation, LEO, GEO, INSAT, MEO, Optical fibers, LASER, PIN, LED photodiode, advantages and disadvantages, Geostationary satellite.
Microwave Communication: Klystron, microwave devices, microwave tubes, tunnel diode, MASER Vs LASER, gun diode, waveguide and resonator, snap diode.
Unit-III: Circuit Theory:
Network Elements: Vector representation of a.c. quantity, RL-RC-RLC series and parallel combination, j-operator, resonance (series and parallel), power and power factor, transient response to DC circuits, selectivity and Q factor, controlled and ideal voltage and current sources, R.M.S. value, conversion and ideal sources, phase difference, phase, average value.
Network Theorems: Maximum power transfer theorem, star-delta transform, Norton, reciprocating theorem, mesh analysis, Thevenin’s, Nodal analysis, superposition.
Polyphase Circuit: Measurement of 3 phase power, line and phase quantity in star-delta connection, T and p network and conversion, image parameters, input and output impedance, relationship between db and neper, attennators ( symmetrical T & p type ), prototype and m-derived filters.
Unit-IV: Electronics Measurements:
Electronics Measurement: Measure unknown frequency by Lossajous figure, measure voltage, measurement of phase angle of signal by CRO, current (AC and DC) by CRO.
Electronic Measuring Instruments: Voltmeter, differential voltmeter, electronic multimeter, Ohm meter, advantage and disadvantage of electronic instruments over conventional meter.
Measurement of Lumped Circuit: Maxwell’s bridge, AC Wheatstone bridge, Hay’s bridge, measure DC resistance, Q-meter, equation of bridge-balance, AC bridge.
Waveform Measurement: Signal generator, Heterodyne wave analyzer, Harmonic distortion analyzer and wave analyzer.
Digital Measurement: Digital frequency meter, digital meter, digital voltmeter.
Generation of Microprocessor, Microprocessor Vs Microcomputer,
8085-Microprocessor: Stack pointer, BUS, Pin structure of 8085, architecture, register, program counter, flag register.
Instruction set of 8085: Addressing mode, instruction, addressing data, I/O machine control group, branch subroutine, timing diagram, assembly language programme.
Interfacing I/O programming: PIN diagram of 8259, 8255, programming with I/O chips like 8259,8255, DAC and ADC.
8086-Microprocessor: Pin diagram, concept of coprocessor, architecture.
