NLSIU - National Law School of India University, Bangalore
National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is one of the recognized universities in the field of legal education. The university was established in 1986 under National Law of India Act. It is located in Nagarbhavi just about 10 kms from Bangalore city railway station. The university is completely residential and provides residential facilities to its students. The law university has been spread over 18 acres of land. The objective of the university is to enable the students for their all-round development.
The university offers both regular and distance learning programmes in Law and it also offers research degree. The university intends to give quality education in the realm of Law and produce more and more intellectual professionals. The technique of teaching comprises of discussion, lectures, case studies, project work and Moot court.
The University has signed MoUs with some of the foreign universities and schools with the intention of sending B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) students under the scheme of Exchange students to Law School in UK, USA and Germany. The candidates are required to qualify the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to get the admission to its programmes like B.A. LL.B. and LL.M. The CLAT to be conducted jointly by NLSIU Bangalore, NLIU Bhopal, NALSAR Hyderabad, NUJS Kolkata, GNLU Ahmedabad, NLU Jodhpur, HNLU Raipur.
The university has a staff of a large number of teachers including judges of the Supreme Court, High Court and Senior Advocates as well. The teaching staff plays a key role in research programmes and assists students to sharpen their legal education skills such as, research skills, argumentative skills, analytical skills, legal writing, decision making, etc.
