Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, Utter Pradesh is a leading Law University which was established under 'Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University Utter Pradesh Act, 2005'. The University is fully financed by the Government of Utter Pradesh. It offers a five-year integrated LLB. programme. There are also other programmes like LLM. and Ph.D. Candidates who wish to apply for the law courses as mentioned above need to qualify an entrance test.
The name of the university goes after the great socialist leader, freedom fighter and vibrant personality, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya. He devoted his life to India before and after independence. He went to prison A number of times for the benefit of the people. He was a man of exceptional scholarship and independent deliberation. Dr. Lohiya worked hard in order to create a society which would make justice sure to women, poor and backward people.
The objective of the university is to give quality education, advance and impart learning and knowledge of law and legal progression and their function in national progress. The university also aims to create legal awareness in the society. To give utmost knowledge of law to its students by means of organizing seminars, lectures, symposia and conferences. The university aspires to promote legal education in the nation so the society will be aware of their rights. Once a student gets selected for admission, he/she is expected to be a perfect competent in their respective field.
The eligibility criteria for admission to BA. LLB. (Hons.) B.Sc. LLB.(Hons.) programmes.
- A candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary School Exam (10+2) or equivalent exam from any recognized board/university with at least 50 % marks in aggregate. However, candidates who fall under reserved category such as SC/ST need to have passed 10+2 exam with minimum 45 % marks in aggregate.
- A candidate should not be more than 20 years of age at the time of admission. Nonetheless, candidates who belong to SC/ST category are required to attain 22 years of age at the time of admission.
The eligibility criteria for admission to LL.M. Degree course.
- A candidates should have obtained at least 50 % marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in any of the papers in the qualifying BA.LLB. (Hons.)/B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons) or LL.B. of any recognized university.
- A candidate should have passed Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)
