University College of London
The University College of London is located in London and is a component of the federal University of London. It was founded in 1826. It is one the third oldest universities present in England and the first one to provide education to students of any race, class or religion. It admits students on secular basis irrespective of any religion and race. The university received its first charter in 1836. The two founding colleges, date even before the actual university came into picture. One is the University College of London (1826) and the other is the King's College London (1829). There are many other constituent institutions which are a part of the University. The University was established initially as an examining body for its colleges and other approved institutions. Such permission was granted by King William IV in 1836 and the University acted in this capacity until 1858.
