The University of Southampton is a British public university situated in the city of Southampton, England. The university is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network and Russell Group of research universities. The aim of the university is to impart high standard education.
The university has more than 17, 000 undergraduate and 7, 000 postgraduate students. The main campus of the university is located in the Highfield area of Southampton. Southampton lays strong emphasis upon research. It is widely regarded as a centre for educational excellence and ranked in the top ten of the National Student Survey.
Southampton has five campuses and the main campus of the university is set in green and pleasingly landscaped surroundings.
